About Laura Kettle Champagne
Following her graduation from Plainfield High School, Laura tirelessly dedicated herself to working with and advocating for people living with developmental disabilities. After a 37 year career, she retired as a Day Services Supervisor in 2011. In her retirement, she volunteered as an advocate for various clients across the state. Laura was truly devoted to her work, often welcoming clients to her home for the holidays, and always going above and beyond to improve the lives of those living with disabilities. During her career, she was proud to have earned an Associates Degree in Human Services from Quinebaug Valley Community College.
Laura lit up every room she entered and made everyone feel they were special. She loved spending time with her large family and her many friends. Laura enjoyed living by the ocean, her favorite place, and spent many hours by the surf. She tended beautiful flower and herb beds around her home, including a lovely collection of orchids. She was an excellent cook and regularly hosted dinner gatherings. A lover of animals, she had a hard time turning away any stray and throughout her life she was a mother to many beloved animals. An avid gardener, animal lover and caregiver to so many; her impact on this world will be a lasting one.
